ABOUT THE DOC
‘The Boricua’s Dilemma’ is an introductory educational documentary short film that summarizes the most essential arguments surrounding Puero Rico’s political status debate. For the unfamiliar, the film serves to illuminate the centuries long status debate of my community. For those on the island of Puerto Rico, who have overheard conversations on the debate for as long as they could remember. The film aims to unite the different ideologies, allowing all sides to voice their arguments, while finding the common ground that they all want what they believe is best for the island.
In February 2023, Nazario-Colon traveled to Puerto Rico with a suitcase and a duffle bag. He had a lighting kit, a lav kit, 2 tripods, & 2 cameras. Over the course of the next 4 days, he held 7 interviews with 9 people. spoke with family friends, family members, and politicians to paint a portrait of what the people have to say.
